What is the difference between OEM and ODM in LED lighting?
OEM: You provide the design and specs, we build to your exact requirements. ODM: We offer existing designs that you customize with your branding. OEM gives unique products; ODM is faster and cheaper. Kingseng offers both.
What is the typical OEM/ODM timeline from design to delivery?
Phase 1 Design & Sampling: 2-4 weeks. Phase 2 Tooling & Mold: 3-5 weeks. Phase 3 Pre-Production Sample: 1-2 weeks. Phase 4 Mass Production: 3-6 weeks. Phase 5 QC & Shipping: 1-2 weeks. Total: 10-19 weeks for OEM, 4-8 weeks for ODM.
Do I need to pay for molds and tooling?
For OEM projects requiring new molds: yes, $500-5,000 per mold depending on complexity. Mold ownership transfers to you. For ODM projects using existing molds: no mold fee. Kingseng maintains over 200 active molds.
Can I put my own brand and logo on Kingseng products?
Yes. We offer laser-etching, custom packaging printing, brand labels, and custom color/finish matching. Minimum order for branding: 200 units. Setup fee: $50-200 per SKU.
How are quality standards maintained during OEM production?
Kingseng uses 4-stage QC: Incoming material inspection, in-line inspection during production, pre-shipment AQL 2.5 sampling, and optional third-party inspection by SGS/Bureau Veritas/TUV. Detailed QC reports provided at each stage.
Can I request changes during production?
Minor changes like packaging can be accommodated during production. Major changes like dimensions require revised sample approval and may extend lead time by 1-3 weeks. All changes documented via ECN (Engineering Change Notice).
Do you offer exclusivity on OEM designs?
Yes. For OEM projects with paid tooling, your design is exclusive. For ODM products with your branding, exclusivity can be negotiated per region or per client with a volume commitment.
